What Is BPC-157?

BPC 157 is synthetic protein that was originally isolated from human gastric juice. It is a 15-amino acid sequence that has been investigated for its potential therapeutic properties. Currently it is being explored as an injury recovery tool and to treat chronic joint conditions. It has shown promise in animal studies for promoting tissue healing, including in joints, by accelerating the repair of muscles, tendons, and ligaments, reducing inflammation, and potentially aiding in pain relief.

Potential Benefits:

  • Anti-inflammatory effects:
BPC 157 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models
  • Injury Recovery: BPC 157 has shown promising results in animal studies for accelerating injury recovery, particularly in soft tissues like tendons and ligaments
  • Wound healing:
Studies in animals have shown that BPC 157 can promote wound healing by stimulating cell growth and collagen production.
  • Gastrointestinal protection:
BPC 157 may help protect the stomach lining from damage caused by ulcers and other conditions.
  • Neuroprotection:
Some research suggests that BPC 157 may protect nerve cells from damage.

Is It Safe?

BPC 157 is not currently approved by the FDA or other regulatory agencies for medical use. It is considered an experimental compound and therefore the decision is made between you and your doctor whether this is the right treatment for you. A full discussion of risks and benefits is appropriate. There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to peptides.

How Is It Administered?

Many people who use BPC 157 use it orally or as an intramuscular injection. However, a skilled orthopedic surgeon or other sports medicine specialist such as Dr. Gelber can place it near a tendon under ultrasound guidance or in the affected joint.
